Run Upper Murray

Run Upper Murray is a fast-growing trail running festival set in Victoria’s stunning High Country, held annually near Corryong on Saturday, 4 October 2025 . Hosted from the Thowgla Public Hall in the scenic Thowgla Valley, the event welcomes runners at all levels to explore the trails around Mount Elliot State Forest, just a short drive from Corryong.
Participants can choose from three distances: a challenging 33 km loop (1,388 m elevation), a demanding 16 km out-and-back (735 m ascent), or a family-friendly 3 km kids’ race (75 m) Entry fees are $120 (33K), $80 (16K), and $20 (3K), with early-bird incentives including a free T-shirt for the first 75 senior registrations and a finisher medal for all entrants
Race-day operations are well organised, with bib pick-up from 7 AM, staggered starts (8 AM for the 33 K, 9:30 AM for the 16 K, 10 AM for the kids), and multiple aid stations placed strategically along the longer courses. Drop-bag services are available for the 33 km runners, and finish-line festivities include live results, music, refreshments, and onsite support—making for a welcoming post-run atmosphere.
More than just a race, Run Upper Murray is a celebration of Upper Murray’s wild rivers, lush forests, and mountain vistas. Organised by a passionate local team—including Race Director Mathieu Doré and Towong Shire Tourism Officer Kerissa—the event brings together community spirit, natural beauty, and trail running culture. Whether you’re chasing PBs, enjoying nature, or looking for a fun family outing, this event offers something for every runner—set against one of Victoria’s most evocative backdrops.
