Aussie Alpine Backyard Ultra

The Aussie Alpine Backyard Ultra is set to debut on New Year’s Eve at Falls Creek Village Bowl, bringing a unique endurance challenge to one of Victoria’s most iconic alpine destinations. Starting at 6pm on 31 December, this event follows the Backyard Ultra format where participants run a 6.7 km loop every hour on the hour, continuing until only one runner remains. It is as much a test of strategy, resilience and mindset as it is a physical challenge, all set against the stunning backdrop of the High Country.

As the first event of its kind in Falls Creek, the Backyard Ultra is designed to create a memorable New Year’s Eve atmosphere, combining competition with community and celebration. With a cap of just 150 entrants, the event promises an intimate yet energetic experience where runners push their limits alongside friends and fellow competitors. Whether participants are aiming to go deep into the night or simply take on a new personal challenge, the format encourages camaraderie, pacing and determination in equal measure.
