Art of Flight Benalla

The Art of Flight Festival will take place from 6–12 April 2026 in Benalla, transforming the skies above north-east Victoria into a colourful display of hot air balloons and aviation excitement. With many activities centred around Benalla Airport, Samaria Road, Benalla, the week-long festival attracts balloon pilots and aviation enthusiasts from across Australia and around the world. Early morning launches provide a spectacular sight as dozens of balloons drift gracefully across the region.

A highlight of the festival is the International Balloon Championships, where skilled pilots compete in precision flying challenges that test their navigation and balloon-handling abilities. Visitors can watch the balloons take off at dawn from various launch sites around Benalla, creating an unforgettable experience as the vibrant balloons rise against the morning sky.

The festival also features family-friendly events, aviation displays and the much-loved Balloon Glow, where tethered balloons illuminate the evening sky alongside food vendors, live entertainment and a relaxed community atmosphere. With its combination of aerial spectacle and festive spirit, the Art of Flight Festival offers a unique opportunity to experience the magic of ballooning in the heart of Victoria’s High Country.
