DESCRIPTION:Annually the Beechworth Old Cranks Motor Club Inc runs the Drive Back In Time on the first Sunday in May.

Drive Back In Time will return to its original location in Ford Street Beechworth which will be closed to traffic and also further vehicles/engines in the Police Paddocks in Beechworth. It will be a static display of approximately 250 vehicles on show. All vehicles are over 25 years old. They will also run the historic Crossley Engine in Wallace Park.

The weekend starts off with a welcome barbeque and a separate tractor trek on Saturday. A street cruise will be held late Saturday afternoon

DESCRIPTION:The Rotary Club of Rutherglen Inc. is again organising a “Vintage Bike Ride” – the next event will be on Saturday 26th April 2025 – which provides an opportunity to visit the North-East Victoria Wine Country and support fund raising for good causes including the Australian Paralympic Cycling Team and the Country Fire Authority. \nDistance – Various options – 10kms to the lunch location (Cofield Wines\, Wahgunyah) and 10 kms back\, but support is available if 10kms is your limit; 20-40 kms if you are happy “just rolling along” on the brand new “Rutherglen Loops” cycling trail\, which connects most of the wineries in the district. Ride on the rail-trail\, Loops cycle paths or gentle roads\, most with very little traffic\, mostly sealed. \nStart / Finish – will be at the Rutherglen Convent\, now converted to very desirable accommodation\, 50-74 High Street Rutherglen. Relaxed and staggered start time from approximately 10am with the bike ride finishing at about 4-00pm in time for drinks and music at the Convent. A Grand Parade\, which included “Williams Brown’s Circus Bank”\, 80 man on horseback and many men on foot made its way through Beechworth. Todays festival still features a Grand Parade as one of the major events. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThat night\, the local Chinese community staged the greatest display of fireworks ever seen in Beechworth\, the huge rockets lighting up the entire reserve with the brilliancy of daylightThe peak performance was the display of several huge and marvellously illuminated fish that floated across the sky with tails and fins flapping\, \nCan you imagine all this happening in Beechworth ?The modern Golden Horseshoe Festival had its beginnings in the early 1960’s\, when the Lions Club was instrumental in organising a series of annual parades between Christmas and New Year until the early 1970’s.In 2001\, Beechworth Gold commissioned Robert Bremner\, a local farrier to craft a pair of horseshoes from solid gold. They were made in the courtyard of the original Bank and Victoria\, and bow the Beechworth Gold store\,These solid gold horseshoes were worn on the horse leading the Golden Horseshoes Festival Parade in 2001\, and each year since. They now have a permanent home on display at Beechworth Gold and The Golden Horseshoes Festival lives on each Easter Saturday. \n\n\n\n\n\nCome and see the Golden Horseshoes at Beechworth Gold these Easter Holidays and relive the history of the region.

DESCRIPTION:100 mile—100 km—60 km —42 km—25 km—16 km—10 km\nIndividual—Team—Relay Challenge\nIn order to enable more people to experience the magic of the Victorian Alps and savour the atmosphere of this unique event we have introduced a number of short course distances of 10/16/25 km as well as adding in a new marathon distance taking in the best of the high plains whilst offering fantastic scenery on a challenging course. \nThe Alpine Challenge is without doubt the toughest\, most challenging\, most spectacular and rewarding all mountain trail run in Australia—if not the southern hemisphere over seven distances. The 100 mile (160 km) course takes in 6 major climbs with 7\,600 m of ascent and descent including Mt Feathertop\, Mt Hotham\, Mt McKay\, Spion Kopje\, Mt Nelse and Victoria’s highest mountain\, Mt Bogong plus five river crossings. The 100 km involves over 4\,000 m of ascent and descent and the 60 km course over 2\,000 m of ascent and descent\, whilst for those undertaking the 42 km run you will have over 900 m of ascent. The three short distances—10/16/25 km—offer an opportunity to experience great trail running and some of the historic huts on single tracks with great views over Heathy Spur and Rocky Valley Dam. \nIt also offers the most challenging weather conditions\, from intense heat during the day or snowstorms and driving rain\, to subzero temperatures at night. \nWhilst the event organisers can take action to reduce risk to participants\, they cannot eliminate it\, as a result runners need to be prepared to run in all conditions or have the experience and sense to decide not to run at all on the day. Participants are advised to train for all conditions\, including running in storms\, snow and at night.
