Metal in the Mountains

Metal in the Mountains is an annual one‑day open‑air heavy‑metal festival held in the historic precinct of Beechworth, Victoria. Curated by Padded Cell Productions and BMF Productions, it’s now in its sixth year and takes place behind the old courthouse on Beechworth’s village green. The 2025 event is scheduled for 29 November, running from around 2 pm to 10 pm, combining the region’s heritage charm with earth‑shaking riffs and a raw, underground vibe
The festival lineup typically features eight powerful Australian metal acts, spanning hardcore, crust, thrash, doom, deathcore and more. The 2024 edition brought together bands like Sordid Ordeal, Dark Horse, Mammon’s Throne, Munitions, The Krugers, Scarnon, Inherit Nothing and Arkangel—ensuring a relentless barrage of aggression and energy Alongside the music, the event also includes food stalls (e.g., Papa Bear’s American BBQ), hot‑sauce challenges, local art, and occasional comedy acts—making it more than just a concert, but a celebration of alternative culture.
