One of the best things you can do when travelling the countryside anywhere in Australia, is to call in for a cold one at the local pub. It is a quinessential Aussie thing to do.

North East Victoria is no exception. Fantastic pubs are dotted all over the region from the Alpine Hotel in the heart of Bright to tiny pubs in towns that not too many people from outside the area know – such as the Union Hotel in Tangambalanga.

We have picked out eight must visit pubs in the North East that we think should be on your radar while you are here. Once you say g’day to the locals over a beer, you never know where the conversation will go but I can guarantee it won’t take long and you will be laughing along with the best of them. Some of these pubs have been around since the goldrush in 1850’s, littered with memorabilia and relics from bygone days.
